Local Abortionist Update

Posted: Thursday, October 2, 2014 4:08pm

SOUTH BEND - Dr. Ulrich "George" Klopfer's misdemeanor hearing in St. Joseph County was continued to Dec. 1 on Wednesday morning.

Klopfer is charged with a misdemeanor for failing to timely report an abortion he provided to a 13-year-old girl in South Bend in 2013. According to state statute, doctors performing abortions on girls younger than age 14 must report the procedure to the Indiana State Department of Health and the Department of Child Services within three days. In this particular case, Klopfer didn't report the abortion for nearly six months.

Klopfer is also slated to appear on trial in Lake County for the same misdemeanor charge on Jan. 26, 2015, and in front of the Indiana Medical Licensing Board on Dec. 4 in Indianapolis. Read the entire article in the South Bend Tribune.

State files licensing complaint against South Bend abortion doctor

Posted: Wednesday, September 17, 2014 4:23pm

INDIANAPOLIS – Attorney General Greg Zoeller’s Office today filed administrative licensing complaints with the Indiana Medical Licensing Board against four physicians for violations of abortion record-keeping and advice and consent laws. The complaints ask the board to consider appropriate disciplinary action against the medical licenses of these doctors operating in Lake, St. Joseph and Marion counties.

In the most egregious complaint, Dr. Ulrich Klopfer of South Bend, Ind. is accused of consistently submitting incomplete, inaccurate and late documentation of the abortion procedures he performs. His alleged violations total 1,833, and are based on complaints brought to the AG’s Office by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency...continue reading here.

Local Abortionist Update

Posted: Tuesday, August 26, 2014 4:00pm

On Aug. 1, Right to Life witnessed the abortionist, Ulrich G. Klopfer, in court. The St. Joseph County prosecutor has filed a criminal charge against Klopfer for failure to timely report to authorities the abortion he performed on a 13-year-old girl. The charge is a class B misdemeanor. The trial was set for Oct. 1.

On July 1, a new law went into effect: all Indiana abortionists must provide evidence they have hospital admitting privileges to the Indiana Dept. of Health, or have a back-up doctor in their stead that does. The law requires the Health Dept. to verify these hospital privileges, and to release the information to public inquirers. However, the names of the hospital and doctor are kept private. Dr. Klopfer has two back-up doctors in St. Joseph County--an M.D. and a D.O. We will continue to seek the identities of these doctors. Please ask your doctor if he or she if pro-life, and call our office with the answer (we keep a list on file of pro-life doctors): 574-232-LIFE.

The good news: Dr. Klopfer does not have a back-up doctor or admitting privileges in Lake County, so is unable to perform abortions there. You may recall that his back-up doctor in Allen County severed ties the first of the year after learning of his late reporting of another 13-year-old there. That's good news overall, as women will have longer to think about their pregnancy, and hopefully consider life instead of abortion. What that means for St. Joseph County, however, is that some of those from other counties will come to ours for abortion services. The battle ground is here. We will double our efforts, and welcome your assistance and prayers toward the fight.

Supreme Court strikes down 'buffer zone' laws in 9-0 decision

Posted: Friday, June 27, 2014 12:19pm

WASHINGTON, DC. - Today, America's highest court unanimously affirmed the right to free speech for sidewalk counselors outside abortion clinics.

This is a huge win for pro-lifers across the nation! This decision strikes down the Massachusetts buffer zone designed to bar pro-lifers from standing near the entrances of abortion centers. At a time when it seems like injustice runs rampant, it is refreshing to know that more lives will be saved as a result of this ruling.

Pro-life sidewalk counselors can continue to offer the help and hope that so many young girls and women desperately seek, often times thinking abortion is their only option. Click here to read the full article in Live Action News.

WSBT Interviews RTL Regarding Detective Activity at Abortion Clinic

On Wednesday, March 19, three detectives were seen entering the abortion clinic, and left after 45 minutes with clinic files and documents. Upon their arrival, all patients left, and no abortions were performed that day! In our consistent monitoring of the abortionist and his clinic, Right to Life has provided the County Prosecutor and Indiana Attorney General with much information pertaining to the abortionist's illegal activities. We are glad to finally report the investigative activities that appear to be underway. WSBT-TV covered the story in full here.

Legislation Updates: March 19th, 2014

Persons whose insurance policies now cover elective abortion will no longer have to subsidize this through their premiums (HB 1123). Except for self-insurance plans, elective abortion will have to be purchased separately by the individual(s) who desire it. This and SB 292 that passed this session strengthens Indiana’s abortion law. SB 292 closes the loop in Indiana’s law governing abortion doctors. No longer can doctors ignore the requirement that they or another licensed physician have hospital coverage should a patient have problems following the abortion. They will have to document that they are following the law with the State Department of Health.

Another pro-life bill passed. HB 1190, Treatment of miscarriage remains, provides parents the opportunity to determine how to dispose of the remains of the fetus. The law now defines "miscarried fetus" as "an unborn child irrespective of gestational age". This is a strong statement that the fetus is a baby from conception.

Adoption of children was also affirmed by granting of a tax credit to families (HB 1222) and the legislature will investigate how to improve Indiana’s adoption law/programs.

Key Pro-Life Bills Passed in Indiana

The following bills have been passed in both houses:
•     HB1210 - Prohibits abortions after 20 weeks, strengthens informed consent, requires ultrasound before an abortion, requires abortionists to have admitting privileges at a local hospital, prohibits abortion coverage by qualified health plans under the federal health care reform law, and bans Medicaid funds from going to abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood.
•     HB1474 - Requires that abortionists report abortions done on a girl under the age of 14 to the department of child services within 3 days of the abortion. Also requires that terminated pregnancy reports include the age of the father and the date that the report was received by the state.

Prayers Save Lives

A few days before the spring 40 Days for Life campaign ended, a woman leaving the abortion mill stopped to talk with a group of Holy Cross College students and others who were praying in front of the building. She showed them an ultrasound picture of her baby and declared “I didn’t do it.” One of the students then accompanied her to the nearby Women’s Care Center.

Knights of Columbus Succeed with Ultrasound Initiative

Thanks to all who contributed to the Knights of Columbus Council 4263 effort to buy an ultrasound machine for the Women's Care Center on north Ironwood Drive near the abortion mill. The K of C met their goal and the new ultrasound equipment has been ordered.

Unplanned Now Available

Unplanned is a unique exposé of Planned Parenthood. This recently released book was written by Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood abortion clinic manager. After assisting during an abortion, she left Planned Parenthood with a changed heart and mind. The book provides a behind-the-scenes look into the abortion business that only a former abortion proponent can offer. Unplanned is now available at bookstores across Indiana and online.
